Revised 02/18/10 RJS

I enjoy traveling to various locations, all over the world, and conducting Workshops (Seminars) for groups of Students.  These are typically 3 to 7 days in duration (due to travel time and expense), and we have a great time!

The following descriptions are outlines of "typical" Watercolor Seminars which I have recently conducted on location.  Site specific Seminars are designed to be in keeping with both the level and the artistic desire of the host group.

About On-Site Watercolor Workshops:

One Day: This watercolor class is specific to students with little or no experience. Students will learn basic watercolor technique including color theory and paint mixing, control and application of paints, plus how to begin and complete a painting. A small floral painting will be completed during class. Each student will receive step-by-step written instructions, color photos and drawings of the projects. Class limited to 25 students.

Two Days: This watercolor workshop is for new students, or those with little experience. The first day will explore: Color theory and color mixing using a limited palette of six tube colors, and a completed small floral painting. The second day's activities will include: A completed painting incorporating the lessons learned from all previous exercises, and a full critique of each student's paintings. Each student will receive step-by-step written instructions, detailed drawings, and color photos of all class projects.

Three Days: This workshop is an intense study of beginning watercolors. The first day will explore, through detailed student painting exercises, color theory based on a limited pigment palette, color mixing, value scales, and understanding composition.  A small project on color theory will complete these exercises. The second and third days' projects, apply daily and previous lessons.  A detailed critique of each student's painting is offered.  A full critique plus a Question and Answer Session conclude the workshop day. Each student receives step-by-step written instructions, detailed drawings, and photos of all projects.
